Make your visit memorable

Be aware of the tides when visiting the beautiful tropical beaches; they can be dangerous.

Zanzibar is relaxing and generally safe, but keep your valuables close by to avoid being robbed.

Keep cash on hand because ATMs are scarce. Most restaurants, bars, and larger retailers accept US dollars or credit cards, but everything else requires Tanzanian Shillings. Currency exchange offices are easily accessible.
